Nissan rides the coatTails of the latest Kardashian @$$ Stunt
So!...today I'm doing my usual automotive news hunting and Kim's @$$ still manages to infiltrate. #Nissan makes a comment about their 2015 gtR resulting in them earning a publicity seat right next to that champagne glass on Kim's rear. *sigh* and even in posting this, I perpetuate the cycle. #generationAss #KimsAssIsNotCarnews #OrIsIt

"On the Outside Looking In": My Dramatic Tale of Trying to Attend SEMA Part I The Beginning
SEMA!
Some argue it's the ultimate car show, with featured automotive performance technology up to 3 years in advance from now. We are talkin' some of the most built up modded cars you have, neigh, WILL ever see!
Now, to attend SEMA, you cannot simply purchase tickets, you have to work for an Automotive Company or be approved media (there are other ways but for the sake of this blog....).
Yours truly USED to work for an automotive chain, but unfortunately I allowed my Navy PTSD to burn a bridge there, and so they shall remain nameless on this story. The point of me mentioning that was that I no longer work in the field, and so I cannot currently get into SEMA the legal conventional way.
I have been offered the chance to accompany others to SEMA, but the exchange of sexual favors was implied.
EXCEPT ONE INSTANCE when someone I was dating got me a "Spouse Pass". I was BEYOND EXCITED!!!!!! Me! Finally attending SEMA!!!!! EEEEEEEE!!!!!!! *Jumping up and down*
A week before the big event, my Knight in shining Armour-All revealed himself to be less than honorable.
In the course of a week I found out:
Why am I telling you all this and what Hell does that have to do with precious innocent SEMA?
I am telling you because after that, I refused his SEMA pass and my chance to finally attend. Maybe it's not a big deal to you, but it was for me. I have been wanting to go for a long time and I finally had the chance. But this enlightening experience made me realize I need to get into SEMA on MY OWN MERIT, and not because someone else can 'get me in'.
So! There ya have it, folks. The preface to my quest to get into SEMA. I hope you will stay tuned for the good news once it comes. SEMA actually started its 4 day revolution yesterday for 2014; I have no Plan C to get in this year.

In the course of a week I found out:
- He had not told his family we were dating because he did not want to have to explain to his mother why he was dating someone who would surely be below her standards
- He had another woman sleep over at his house (I came to drop something off and the car was there at 7am)
- I caught him in the act of trying to pursue other options; he thought a love from the past was trying to get back together, he lied about not planning to get back in touch with her, and then tried to anyway. What he found out later is that it was a setup and he took the bait. He was a little more than furious about that....BUT! The truth was at stake.
Why am I telling you all this and what Hell does that have to do with precious innocent SEMA?

The Pink Chevy
The Pink Chevy
This is the car I learned to work on cars with.
Some people say everything has a price, some people would sell a car they love in a heartbeat, and I get that...but such is not the case for my Chevy.
This car has defied all logic running when it should not have on several occasions.
Sadly, after moving here alone to Las Vegas, I had an almost immediate shift in priorities; Pink Chevy not being one of them, in order for me to survive.
We (Pink Chevy & I) enjoyed a level of celebrity in Philly, despite not being the "most" of anything except maybe pink. People knew us, little girls squealed with joy at the sight of us, police usually let us go with just a warning.
Now here in Vegas, after the optispark burned out and the dealer gave me what I believe to be the wrong replacement, it sits in waiting, while I continue to work towards the right circumstances to put in a cool new motor worth our time.
If you've ever changed the optispark on a Chevy Caprice or Impala, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, let me just say, the optispark or distributor for this car is fixed BEHIND the water-pump, a horrible choice of location. Once they burn out, get wet, etc...it can be hell.
Since this car came with the smallest v8, a 4.3, I attempted the opti once, and now I'm over it. Too much aggravation for a motor I don't want to keep anyway. It has other issues, but the idea is to do a complete overhaul; check out my Wishlist Post to see my big expensive no idea how its going to become reality Plan.

Welcome
Welcome to the The Pink Chevy blog.
As I mentioned, I am a woman, from Philly, now living in Las Vegas. I am a writer with a couple of published works, and I am an automotive enthusiast.
The Pink Chevy Exists!
This blog isn't just titled Pink Chevy because I am a girl; the first car I learned to paint on was my own 1995 Chevy Caprice, and me being young, obnoxious, and acting like a real live "Rizzo" from Grease, I chose to paint it Pepto Bismol Pink.
I've grown up a little since then, but the Pink Chevy remains. A recent lack of funds has resulted in its steady unfortunate decay in my parking space at my apartment complex.
Tragic, I know....I've tried getting sponsorship etc..in the past, but perhaps not hard enough.
Check out my Pink Chevy Posts to see my wishlist, photos, and more. Please feel free to comment or critique my Wishlist, I love comments!
Some topics you can expect to see:
- Car Shows: Vegas is awesome for it's year-round car culture
- Dealership Critiques: Feedback on some popular local dealerships
- "On the Outside Looking In": an annual series related to me and my dramatic tale of not being able to get into SEMA (yet) except for some offers from people that always turn into a disaster.
- The Pink Chevy: My ongoing quest to turn my '95 Chevy into a show winning drag racer
- Some NPR Car talk piggy-backing
- Junkyard adventures: When I go to the junkyard, something funny almost always happens
